The under 22s Semi Finals were played at

Kenilworth Sports & Social Club on Monday 16th February 2009

Under 22s Result / Report
Chris Wakelin 3-2 Adam Edge With breaks of 25 and 18 Chris took the first frame 60 - 18 and also took the second 63 - 21 with breaks of 24 and 19. This put Chris in a commanding position 2 - 0 up in a best of 5 match. He started the third positively, looking for the win, but Adam fought back with breaks of a 32 and 18 to win the third 56 - 32. The fourth frame was a little scrappy, Chris's highest break 16 and Adam's 14. Snookered on the pink, Chris made two fouls and misses to put him 13 behind with 13 on. Chris eventually managed to pot both pink and black to force a respotted black. Adam won the toss and put Chris in. After a couple of visits, Adam potted a good black to level at 2-2. The Fifth and final frame Chris started confidently with a 30 break, followed by 6 from Adam who did not get back to the table. Chris on his next visit potted the remaining 10 reds with 6 blacks, 2 pinks, 1 blue and 1 brown and all the colours to compile a magnificent 100 break. This is the highest break in the Under 22s on record. This also earns Chris a 100-up Tankard.
Phil Parkin 3-2 Kristi Caulfield Kristi got off to a flyer winning the first 65-2, with breaks of 32 and 21. Phil started to find his form a little in the second with breaks of 14 and 22, winning 62-34. In the third, Phil's breaks of 22 and 20 were not enough to overpower Kristi who won 52-43. Kristi was looking good for his 2-1 lead. The fourth frame saw Phil overpower Kristi completely with breaks of 22, 22 and 14 to win 76-26. The last frame was a cagey affair with both players playing good safety play, until Kristi broke the deadlock with a 17 break. Phil then stepped up to the table and potted 10 reds with 9 blacks and 1 blue, a 78 break to win the final frame 79-17.

The Under 22s Final will be played at the Daimler Sports & SOcial Club

on Tuesday 21st April 2009 and will commence at 6.00 pm.

The match will be Best of Five frames between

Phil parkin from Kenilworth

and

Chris Wakelin from Oakfield

It is good to see such young talent playing in our league, and these two are the cream of the crop. Both fully deserve to be in the final. This is a rematch of last years final which Chris won 3-0. You can rest assured that Phil will not be such a pushover this year.
