The Spires Cup Semi Finals were played at

Kenilworth Sports & Social Club, on Monday 2nd March 2009

(Brandon D)		 The Brandon pair got off to a good start winning the first frame 70-34, with Gordon making a 22 break. Second frame honours were taken by Wyken winning 44-34. This gave Brandon a 26 point lead going into the final frame. Gordon put points on the board for Brandon early on, and he and Ian continued to score steadily. The Wyken pair struggled to score points and conceded the match after Ian Millier potted the last red with the black, giving a frame score of 58-28.

(Jaguar C)		 This all Jaguar semi-final was as close as it could get. In frame one, Bernie and Matt saw their 37 point lead disappearing when a snooker on the final red cost them 20 points in fouls and misses. Final frame score was 59-51 to Bernie and Matt. Both teams scored steadily in frame two, Dan and Adam making the highest break with a 23. Final frame score 58-44 to Dan and Adam. In frame three Dan and Adam had a 6 point start, and took advantage of that with a 25 break to lead 51-23. Two fouls and misses on the next red brought Bernie and Matt within 24 points. On the pink, the frames score was 53-53. Dan and Adam potted the pink to win the match.

The Spires Cup Final will be played at the Daimler Sports & Social Club

on Saturday 18th April 2009 and will commence at 3.00 pm.

 

The match will be Aggregate score over four pairs frames between

Gordon Palmer & Ian Miller from Brandon

and

Dan Woodhouse & Adam Prewett from Jaguar

 

This is not Gordon's first visit to finals week, but Ian has never been here before. Both Dan and Adam have played in finals in previous years.
