The Senior Citizens Semi Finals were played at

Parkstone Club on Monday 9th February 2009

Result / Report

John Thomas	2-1	Mick Bradshaw	Mick started off positively taking a 38 point lead in frame one and seemed to be playing confidently. Mick won the first 58 - 36. The next frames was close with neither player establishing a big lead. John won 44-29 to level the match. John lead for most of the third frame, which was a tense game. John was 10 ahead with the pink and black left on. Mick took on a brave double to pot the pink into the yellow pocket. He finished six inches short of being on a straight black into the top left hand pocket. After both had shots rattle in the jaws of pockets and come out, Mick was left a relatively simple black into the middle right pocket which he missed, leaving John a straight shot into the green pocket which he put away to win the frame 48-37, and the match 2-1.
Cliff Sexty	0-2	Gary Powney	Cliff, in his first appearance in a Senior Citizens Semi-Final had his work cut out against seasoned campaigner, Gary Powney. Cliff struggled to judge the weight of the cloth and had a couple of safety shots finish short of their target which gary punished with breaks of 12 and 37. Gary won the first frame 79-39. Cliff started the more confident in the second and Gary struggle to find a scoring shot in his first 19 visits to the table scoring only one point. Meanwhile Cliff was potting some tremendous long shots, and had pulled away to take a 38-5 lead. Gary then clawed the game back with numerous scoring visits to the table. Cliff still lead though, 51-48 with the black left. Gary potted this to win 55-51.

The Senior Citizens Final will be played at the Daimler Sports & SOcial Club

on Sunday 19th April 2009 and will commence at 1.00 pm.

The match will be Best of Three frames between

John Thomas from Jaguar

and

Gary Powney from Albany

John Thomas is making his first appearance in the final, but he has tough opposition in Gary, who is the defending champion. This is Gary's fifth appearance in the Senior Citizens Final, he has been champion twice before.
