Presidents Cup Draws and Breaks

he Presidents Cup Final was played at the Daimler Sports & Social Club on Friday 17th April 2009.

This was a best of seven frames match between Phil Parkin from Kenilworth and Seamus Kinsella from Wyken. Phil had a handicap of 12 and seamus a handicap of 18.

Seamus started well with breaks of 12, 22 and 16 in the first frame, whilst Phil struggled to find his form. Seamus had a 68 - 38 lead when a foul shotby Seamus left Phil snookered. The Referee awarded a free ball, which Phil took along with the Blue. He continued with the break taking the final red with the yellow, then all the colours, a 36 break, to win 78-72.

In Frame 2 both players struggled to make an impact both managing 21 as their hifghest break. Phil won 84-66.

Phil was first into scoring in frame 3, with a 15 break. Seamus responded 3 shots later with a well constructed 46 break. Seamus went on to win 84-35.

Frame 4 was a bit of a disaster for Seamus, giving away 32 in fouls that were called a miss by the referee. Phil then punished him further with a 46 break quickly followed by a 28. Phil won 119-26.

The 5th frame was littered with foul shots by both players Seamus only managed 3 scoring visits to the table. Phil's 11 scoring shots, with a disapointing 15 highest break proved to much, and Phil ran out winner 85-40. Over-all both players struggled with consistency, and didn't really show the potential we know they are capable of.

The 4-1 match to Phil is a little flattering and doesn't really reflect the closeness of the game.
