The A.P. Newman Semi Finals were played at

Great Heath Club on Wednesday 18th March 2009 and

Kenilworth Sports & Social Club on Monday 23rd March 2009

Result / Report

Ian Callaghan & Dean Kavanagh	204-123	Kieron Farrell & Kevin O'Sullivan	Frame 1 - Ian v Kevin. Both players scored steadily through the frame with Ian attaining the highest break of 17. Kevin lead 43-31 when Ian potted Pink and Black to win by pne point 44-43. Frame 2 - Dean v Kieron. Dean got off to a good start with breaks of 6 and 24, giving him a 30-1 lead. Kieron was potting some terrific reds, but the run of the ball was not in his favour, and he failed to pot colours with them. Dean continued to score with each visit to the table finishing the victor, 81-16. Frame 3 - Ian v Kieron. Kieron got off to a more positive start this frame, but the run of bad luck did not end. Ian was a little slow starting, but got back into the frame with a 27 break. Ian lead 41-40 when he potted Pink and Black to win 54-40 Frame 4 - Dean v Kevin. Kevin had a big hill to climb, starting this frame 80 points behind on aggregate. He got into the balls on a couple of occasions but failed to capitilise. Dean matched Kevin's scoring and with 5 reds left Kevin threw in the towel with the frame score 25-24 to Dean.
Neal Stribbling & Daniel Isaac	140-267	Steve Jones & Andy Kean	Frame 1 - Despite breaks of 20 and 12, Neal was unable to overcome Andy's relentless scoring. With breaks including 12,17,16,16,& 13 Andy won the first frame 89-32. Frame 2 - Daniel potted confidently and matched Steve well through to the colours. With the score at 42-39 to Daniel, Steve potted yellow, green and brown to lead by six. In two visits Daniel had potted the remaining colours to win 60-48. Frame 3 - An out of sorts Neal, had little opportunity to score. Steve dominated with a well constructed 66 break followed by a 34 to win the frame 109-8. Frame 4- Daniel had a mountain the size of Kilimanjaro to conquer, starting the frame 146 behind. He took the first 4 reds with blacks, followed by another red and black. With the reds open on the table it was difficult to play safe and it wasn't long before Andy stepped in with a 21 break. This was enough and the match was conceded by Daniel. Frame score 40-21 to Daniel

The AP Newman Final will be played at the Daimler Sports & SOcial Club

on Tuesday 21st April 2009 and will commence at 8.30 pm.
